Act Like You've Been There...

So, I've been an athlete my whole life. I started playing softball when I was 6 years old, and played competitively until I was 18. At one point, Mommy put me in piano lessons, but Daddy got bored at the recitals, so that ended after only 2 1/2 months and softball became my life. There's a saying in sports..."Act like you've been there." Act like you've been there basically means don't let others know this is your first time at success. If you score the winning touchdown, don't do 30 backflips like you've never scored before in your life. If you score a hole in one, don't scream and whoop and holler; if you get a 'kill' in volleyball, don't push it in your opponent's face.

Today, I was at an inservice all day for work. Warren and I got home and were playing with the boys when I decided to pop open my e-mail. I saw a response from an agent that I queried about 3 weeks ago, and instantly my heart sunk. "Another rejection letter." But, I opened it, and there was the usual 'Thank you for sending me AT LAST..." and this is where I almost stopped reading because Timmy was crawling on me and being whiny. WELL, I continued to read and she said something like '...I would be interested if you could send me the first three chapters and...' WHAT!?!?!?!

So, the acting like I'd been there? Yeah, it didn't happen! I jumped up off the couch and swang and danced Timmy around the living room. I told Schro that I didn't want to get too excited, but it was so gratifying to know that there was someone that actually wanted to take a look at my book. I won't pull the whole Sally Field Academy award acceptance speech, but you get the idea. So, cross your fingers and say a prayer! Hopefully things will work out for the best..they always do!

I am so happy for you, Mrs. Schroeder. The book REALLY deserves to be published and I fully have dibs on running the fan club that's sure to follow. Oh and one more thing...SEQUEL??? Why didn't you tell me the next book you were writing was the sequel? I nearly had a heart attack I was so excited. I'm going to have to get held back a year so that I can stay in your class and get my hands on the first copy!

The 4.0 I had before this blog ever existed begs to differ.

In all honesty, though. I really do love the book. I'm not just sucking up. Really. Though, I sound a bit like I am, don't I? Hmn, better work on that.
