Ok, so I got another rejection today (I'm really ok with that, but it is getting a little old). Anyway, she said she enjoyed reading the chapters I sent, and found them entertaining, but they didn't grab her imagination. I wasn't angry or anything, just confused. Schro said maybe the opening chapter is too slow, and she couldn't get into it that much. Another agent said it wasn't what she had hoped for. She implied that she wanted it to be good, but she was a little disappointed. What do you think? I'm throwing it out there for you to be truly honest with me. I'm willing to retool it if the majority of you feel it leaves a lot to be desired, but I need to know. The writing group I belonged to said that it flowed and was good. Is it, or were they just blowing sunshine my way? Let me know. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other agent who requested the 3 chapters. No news is good news, right? Thanks for reading. The Chapter is on the very bottom.

I personally believe that a story needs to start off with some sort of a foundation. No one wants to be confused when they're half way into a novel because the writer never let them secure their footing before diving right into the story. The first chapter lets us get to know your character at the same time that it's being witty and amusing. It's an exposition without the boredom. How is that not refreshingly awesome?
hey thanks for blogging and posting fill-my-cup. Mine is a diet/lifestyle book - which you could guess from the site, but I am in a couple of book clubs and so I STILL READ, sometime, when my over involved life allows for it. I will look around for your pages on the site but if you want ANOTHER set of eyes, I am happy to read. jp@fill-my-cup.com I just sent your site to my web-designer I love the music... You are amazing! keep the ideas flowing!!
