San Diego, Here I Come! :)

Welcome to my new bloggers, you guys rock! I'll be leaving next Friday for the San Diego Writer's conference, and I'm excited to say a dear friend of mine, Susan, will be coming with me. I'm looking forward to all the breakout session and schmoozing with some industry people. (Don't I sound almost big time?)

I finished Chapter 1 in 3rd person, like the agent suggested, and I have to tell you...I think it flows pretty well.(Is that why she's the professional?) Schro likes it better (he thought first person was a little stilted). I forgot to save it on my zip drive, so it's at work on my desktop. I'll post it Monday.

Keep your fingers crossed, and stay tuned for some fun updates. :)

Woo-hoo!!!!!

Ok, so let me tell you what's better than 25 rejections...Those 2 possibilities that are still out there. I had another agent contact me about my book. She suggested a few changes for the novel, and I immediately started working on them. I'm so hopeful. Also, I might be attending a Writer's Conference in San Diego next weekend, and have the chance to meet her face to face. Way cool! :) Cross your fingers.

Back in the Saddle Again...

Working on the 3rd chapter of my sequel. Exciting stuff. :) I think we'll have a contest to have one of you name a character in the novel. I'll get back to you on that, though. :)

The Happenings...

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Holiday, and have exciting plans for the New Year. After a much needed week with my husband and sons at my Daddy's house, I am pumped to report that I am taking the proverbial pen to paper tonight and continuing with the next chapter of the sequel to 'At Last'. Had a few rejections over the holidays, but am still waiting with baited breath on the agent who requested my chapters. Cross your fingers, think Happy thoughts, and if you believe in fairies, clap your hands. :) (A Nod to Tink).

On another vein, I am excited to report that I have begun the outline for a series of books that are a prequel to 'At Last' called 'The Adventures of a Teenage Tomboy' starring Emma Sanders.

Once again, hope you are all enjoying your Holidays. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year.

So, tell me about Michael Jordan....

There's an old list that my softball coach would send to us in our classrooms before games. It was a list of all the well known people who had accomplished exceptional things during their life time. These people had, according to the list, also not been successful in their first attempt at success. Obviously, the adage that Michael Jordan didn't even make the high school basketball team is what I'm referring to by my title. I'm not saying I'm a Michael Jordan (He shoots better than me, but I look SO MUCH BETTER in a great pair of heels!); I'm just saying I know that this is a hard road, and I'm willing to stay on the path as long as necessary. :) Thanks for your love and support. Especially those of you who comment on the family's blog page, and not this one.

Tell Me the Truth...

Ok, so I got another rejection today (I'm really ok with that, but it is getting a little old). Anyway, she said she enjoyed reading the chapters I sent, and found them entertaining, but they didn't grab her imagination. I wasn't angry or anything, just confused. Schro said maybe the opening chapter is too slow, and she couldn't get into it that much. Another agent said it wasn't what she had hoped for. She implied that she wanted it to be good, but she was a little disappointed. What do you think? I'm throwing it out there for you to be truly honest with me. I'm willing to retool it if the majority of you feel it leaves a lot to be desired, but I need to know. The writing group I belonged to said that it flowed and was good. Is it, or were they just blowing sunshine my way? Let me know. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other agent who requested the 3 chapters. No news is good news, right? Thanks for reading. The Chapter is on the very bottom.

Cross Your Fingers, and Toes, and Eyes and....

So, tomorrow I am sending off my first REQUESTED chapters, synopsis, and biographical sketch. It's one of those things where I want this so badly, that I almost don't want to send it because then it could be rejected. BUT, some of my unofficial fan club members have assured me that this is destined to happen; that this is a page turner which will sell millions. Once again, I don't know about millions. I'd just like to be able to write and have people enjoy it. So, tomorrow at about 10:15am PST, I'll be in line at the post office waiting to send my 'baby' to a girl that I hope appreciates it for all it could become. I have alot of faith in this agent...she's a UCD grad, so according to my husband (a fellow alum) she's brilliant. :) I just hope I've done my part to sell it to her. Once again, cross your fingers and say a prayer. I'll keep you posted.
